Does your marketing mindset need a “check-up from the neck up”? That comes from one of my favorite Zig Ziglar quotes, who is a master at keeping a positive mindset in his business. An often neglected aspect of your business is instilling a positive mindset in your marketing strategy.
Be honest, and ask yourself if any of these statements sound like you?
“I’m just throwing money down the drain paying for advertisement These ads just don’t convert.”
“I know my product would be just what my friend needs to help her business, but she will just think I’m trying to make money off her”
“That blog looks so much better than mine. She has so much more knowledge than me. I’ll never be able to compete”
If so, STOP it! Your self talk is extremely important to your business success. Your mind does what you tell it, when it hears you make a statement through a thought or your words, your brain immediately goes to work to start manifesting that in your life. Your mind believes what you say to be true and acts upon it. This is not just about the Law of Attraction, this is what scientists have proven to be fact through many studies of the human brain.
The more you think negative thoughts about your business, your capabilities, or your sales conversions the more your brain becomes accustomed to those thoughts and it becomes easier to believe them. The good news is that this is true for positive self talk as well as negative. Whenever you think a thought your brain “fires off” neurotransmitters that look for connections. The more you think these same thoughts the stronger the connection becomes until it literally becomes your reality and who you are. You brain becomes “hardwired”.
The way to change that is to catch yourself as soon as you start to think something negative and change the thought direction. Those neurotransmitters will hear the new thought and rather than going to the normal, comfortable spot it has created, it will find a new connection with the new outcome of circumstances or behavior. The more you do this the easier it becomes as those hardwired connections start to loosen and reattach elsewhere to create your new hardwire.
Now that may not be the exact scientific explanation of how that works, but it’s the premise. If this sparks your interest, I would highly recommend a wonderful book by Dr. Joe Dispenza titled “Evolve Your Brain”. It is an excellent resource on how the brain works & the infinite possibilities once you know how it works. his book. Dr. Dispenza is well known for his role in the movie “What The Bleep Do We Know”. There is It is a book I did not want to put down once I started, but had to digest the details in small doses.
You should be feeling a bit of excitement as you begin to realize you are in complete control and can change your circumstances and habits by changing your thoughts. It’s important to realize that you need to REPLACE negative thoughts with good ones to form new connections. If you can get yourself to actually stop a moment to see or visualize the results you want this is much more effective.
Try telling yourself this the next time you start to have a negative thought or emotion about your marketing success:
“I know when I take action placing ads that the Universe honors my action. I am doing what it takes to promote my business and I trust that I have been led to the right place to advertise. I trust my intuition and expect this ad to convert. Now I leave it up to the Universe to handle it from here, I’m happy with the results, and I am free to move on to the next ad knowing I have what I expect”
“I love and honor my friends and want to see their lives full of prosperity and success. We have been brought to this moment for a reason, and I am doing what the Universe expects of me when I offer my skills, talents & gifts to my friends. I’m grateful for relationships and networks that benefit and collaborate together for mutual success”
“I have been given my own set of unique talents. I have my own passions and interests that I am able to express in a way that only I can. I am unique. My blog represents who I am and it attracts people that want what I have a passion to offer. Others in my niche are not my competitors, but are collaborators. We compliment each others styles and skills with our own unique blogs and I am grateful”.
To be totally honest, this is not one of the easiest things you will ever have to do. It takes controlling your will and sticking to it. We become comfortable with our way of thinking, and actually become addicted to our emotions, and addictions are not kicked in one day. But by instilling a positive mindset you’ll find your marketing plans will take off and it will become natural to expect success.
All My Best,
Coree
